Activating your mid spine for pure rotation can help you to a better Golf Swing! Your mid spine is responsible for creating rotation in the normal golf swing. Most of us have stiff spines from sitting all day at work or playing video games. Shockingly practicing the game of golf can also make you tight! I know I know who wants to believe something crazy like that, but it’s true! So now is the time to reclaim your ability to turn! The secret is activating your mid back muscles (rhomboids, mid trap, serratus posterior and anterior). Watch this video to add a new exercise to your workout to help you move better and be a better golfer.
Get onto all fours, I use a knee pad for this drill or an exercise matt, normally. Place your left hand on the back your head, start with your left elbow torching your right forearm. Slowly turn your left elbow toward the ceiling by squeezing your left shoulder blade toward and around your spine while simultaneously pulling in your stomach to activate your abs. Try hard to keep your right elbow straight throughout the exercise. Perform 20-30 reps of the is motion then switch sides. This exercise should not be painful. If it is painful you should stop and consult your physician or physical therapist.
